Every student enrolled at the University of Derby, and Buxton & Leek College, is automatically a member of the Students’ Union. Whether you’re actively involved or not, we aim to make your student experience a better one. The organisation is led each year by a group of officer trustees, who are voted in by their peers enrolled at the University of Derby. This team is supported by a team of full-time employed staff and also a team of Part-Time Officers (elected volunteers). The University of Derby Students’ Union exists to represent students’ voices within the University and also the wider community – both locally and, via NUS, nationally.
The Students Union is particularly passionate about being a good neighbour, caring for the environment and shouting about social justice issues. We offer a variety of opportunities relating to these too. For example;
* We support students who want to campaign for environmental and social justice through our Green Champion scheme. * We offer opportunities to work with the community on different volunteering projects.
* Our Farmers Market project gives students the chance to buy local produce direct from the supplier and gives students experience in running markets. We are always looking for more local suppliers too, so get in touch if you are interested.
* Our Student allotments project gives students the chance to grow their own sustainable food and learn new skills.
If you are a student who wants to get involved in any of these the please get in touch on firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have any ideas for projects that UDSU may be able to work with you on, then get in touch also. If you want to sign up to hear more about our projects then click here.
